WRITING

Are you being pulled in a thousand different directions? Is all of your time and energy going toward meeting others’ demands? Have you left your passion by the wayside? Establishing a mindful writing practice will reawaken your relationship with your true self.

Carefully-crafted prompts help you to quiet the chattering mind and get to the heart of the matter. Writing also provides a safe space for your hopes and dreams.

I’ll help you cut through the mental chatter, so you can establish calm, gain clarity, and follow through on your creative ideas.

WRITING INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATIONS

Writing has always been an important part of my life. From childhood experiments with poetry and short stories to adolescent journaling in attempts to make sense of my life, to travel diaries throughout my years living in Asia, putting pen to paper has always served as a grounding and centering force.

While living in Japan in my 20s, I discovered Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Down the Bones and got hooked on Writing Practice. In my mid-30s, after a creative dry spell, I discovered Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, and credit her approach with reigniting my creative fire. That ultimately led to publishing my award-winning children’s books.

My daily journaling practice has been instrumental in successfully navigating my midlife transitional journey. Further creative pursuits are in the works, inspired by my other WAYiN practices of art, yoga, and nature.

TESTIMONIALS

“In this treasure-trove of information, two children, one a Tokyo urbanite and the other from a rural village, introduce readers to their country and its culture, including geography, language, traditional arts, costume, etiquette, sports, and festivals. The scope of this book is remarkably comprehensive, covering almost anything a child would want to know, from traditional folktales to contemporary video games and anime.”

School Library Journal

“A book for families to treasure together. You’ll dive into stories, try new crafts, play some games from Japan, learn Japanese songs…it’s the next best thing to being there.”

Japan Today

“A wonderful introduction to the culture, history, geography and language of Japan, this book packs it all in with recipes, stories, games and activities. If your child is studying about Japan either at home or at school, this one book can do it all!

“I gave this to my 10 year-old granddaughter as she was preparing to go on a trip with her family to Japan. She thoroughly enjoyed reading it and found it very helpful preparation for the trip. I read it before I gave it to her and found it delightful.”

Lynda S. Taylor

“Got this for my 1st grader whose class was studying Japan…. best resource they had!”
