Endings Are New Beginnings

Welcome to the first post at the WAYiN Blog

Those now famous parting words of BKS Iyengar at the end of his life resonate with me poignantly, and I am deeply grateful for them. Guruji left his body three days before my Iyengar Yoga Assessment for certification. That weekend, as we commemorated, paid tribute to, and celebrated the extraordinary life and teachings of BKS Iyengar, I earned my official credentials as a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.

Guruji’s end was thus, in a way, my beginning. But in truth, my certification was only the next step on a profound journey of transformation that had started years earlier.

Why I’m Grateful

Iyengar Yoga was the impetus for my journey WAYiN… which ultimately led to my finding my way out of an unhealthy and unsustainable lifestyle. My discovery of Iyengar Yoga initiated an inward journey of discipline in practice, self-reflection, and letting go. A journey that I began traveling when on my mat, but also when in front of a piece of art, when writing in my journal, and when immersing myself in nature. Practice in all four of these modalities taught me how to dive deep and get calm, gain clarity, and build courage to align with my inner truth. And now it is my privilege and pleasure to share these WAYiN mindfulness practices with others.

Endings are new beginnings. What old patterns, habits, or less-than-ideal elements in your life are you ready to let go of? What steps are you ready to take on your own transformative journey?
